About ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organization is the space organization of the Indian govt. HQ in the city of Bengaluru. Its visualization is to “harness space technology for national expansion, while chasing space science research & planetary exploration”.

Formed in the year 1969, ISRO superseded the former Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), which was recognized in the year 1962 by the efforts of self-regulating India’s first Prime Minister Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, and his near assistant& scientist Vikram Sarabhai. The formation of ISRO thus established space activities in the country. It is managed by the Depart of Space that reports to the Prime Minister of the Nation.

ISRO manufactured India’s first satellite, Aryabhata that was launched by the Soviet Union on 19thApril in the year 1975. In the year 1980, Rohini befitted the first satellite to be located in orbit by an Indian-made inauguration of vehicle, SLV-3. ISRO consequently developed 2 more rockets: the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) for launching satellites into polar orbit & the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) for insertion satellites into geostationary orbit. These rockets have launched many communications satellites & earth observation satellites. Satellite navigation structures like GAGAN and IRNSS have been installed. In January 2014, ISRO effectively used an original cryogenic engine in a GSLV-D5 launch of GSAT-14.
